Ram returns to Ayodhya.

After a 500 year long waiting and with tens of thousands of sadhus and yogis and general Ram bhakts sacrificing their lives for saving the Ram Janam Bhoomi from being razed by the islamist Babur, Ram finally came home today.

Kudos to our PM Modi who made this possible in our lifetime, something our parents and grandparents and those before them missed.

And who is better qualified to perform the holiest ritual Praana Pradhishta, breathing life into the deity, than our beloved prime minister, with his devotion and sincerity. If not for him, India would not be seeing this moment. The full credit for this historic event goes to Shri Narendra Damodhar Modi. Modi is half hermit himself. In his younger years, he was wandering in the Himalayas in quest of finding ‘the truth.’ This is the reason he left his marriage. His aspirations were different. May be his first name Narendar is the reason (after Swami Vivekanand). He led a life of a brahmachari (male equivalent of spinster) abstaining from meat (being a lifelong vegetarian), alcohol and women. Fasting is not new to him. He has been observing vraths for Navratris for years. When in US attending UN assembly, he was only on the same lime juice diet for 10 days as it was Sharadha Navratri then. And then he is a yogi as well – his Yogic practices are well known. That gives him not only the physical strength but also the mental balance and confidence. And ofcourse he is a devout, pious Hindu. Why should he not be? The way he observed the ‘anushtaan’ for 11 days and the way he hopped from temple to temple around India from Puri Jagannath to Tirumala Tirupathi to Guruvayur to Sri Rangam on way to Rameshwaram to bring the holy water from 22 kunds and the Indian ocean there for Shri Rama in Ayodhya was not just a terrific feat but also extremely humbling to all of us. What stopped the previous prime ministers of India from delivering Ram to us all these years. They had their chance. What they lacked was the intention and the courage and willpower.

Shri Narendra Modi is an avatar purush to us Hindus around the world. He is a tool. He became the willing tool in the hands of Lord Ram who decided to return to Ayodhya precisely today. I am a believer and I don’t think this is in your hands or my hands. This is Ram’s choosing. The way he became emotional moved us, those glued to our tv sets, to tears.

Ayodhya happened naturally. But from even before, ever since he became our prime minister, Modi has been visiting every single ancient temple throughout the length and breadth of India including Vaishno Devi, Kedarnath and Badrinath, high in the Himalayas. Ram Janam Bhoomi is mere culmination of this nonstop teertha yatra, like the crowning glory. The court case was won. Winning the legal battle paved the way for Ram mandir construction.

When Pakistanis have the audacity to claim even the Kohinoor which originally adorned Mother Goddess Badrakali of Warangal, before passing through many hands of thieves to land finally with the British royalty, what more can you expect from them.

In contrast, the Congress anti-nationals visited Babur’s tomb – from Nehru to Indira Ghandy and Rajiv Ghandy and even Rahul Ghandy. Perfectly understandable that they were muslim by birth which is why they could not bring themselves to visit Ram Janam Bhoomi. Sonia the catholic, no wonder filed in court questioning the birth of Ram. Don’t watch Kareena Saif films – they named their son Timur. It is like giving Hitler’s name to your kid.

Well why is not Guardian mentioning the reclamation of mosques by Spain? Or why is there no mention of the Hagia Sofia takeover by islamists in Turkey who so easily turned the cathedral into mosque very recently.

Ayodhya to India/Hindus is like Vatican to Catholics and Mecca to Muslims. The islamic barbarians who invaded India razed and desecrated over 48,000 ancient Hindu temples which are all documented and whose details are preserved for generations meticulously by Hindus. The reclamation just started! There are Christian nations in the world, islamic nations in the world, even Buddhist so why not a single Hindu nation. India/Bharat is the origin of Sanatan Dharm (Hindu faith). Hindu Dharma is the only NATIVE, continuous and unbroken civilization surviving today in the world for over a 10000 years to the least. No founders for Hinduism. No Bible or Quran. No Vatican or Mecca. Even Ayodhya is one of the holy places out of many. It acquires significance being the birth place of Lord Ram. The islamic marauder Babur desecrated our lord’s birth place and the vigraha and built mosque exactly on the spot most revered to Hindus. 500 years later, justice is served. Now see the condition of the islamic nations. Except the oil rich Arab that are not more than a dozen in number, rest is JUNK. Even nations and cultures have Karma. YOu have to wait for the oil to dry up. Real music will start then.

Ram Janam Bhoomi is not new. It has been a flashpoint between Hindus and Muslims for 500 years now with Hindus franctically wanting to reclaim the janma bhoomi of our Lord Ram. We needed someone fair and just and strong=willed and patriotic like Shri Modi to finally clinch what is ours legally, ethically, morally back from the usurpers. The much beneficial legal arsenal was contributed by ordinary Hindus from all walks of life that bolstered the case for the Mandir reclamation. It would have brought the Indian muslims enormous goodwill had they given up Ram Janam Bhoomi on their own accord. After all, we Hindus were footing their Haj pilgrimage subsidy until very recently, by way of our taxes. Who pays taxes honestly except again for the Hindus. We all are aware who are the hawala guys.

Maldivians: the thankless bastards

Having expressed my displeasure at the idea of Lakshadweep being opened to tourists that can wreck havoc with the fragile marine ecosystem we have there, it is time now to list what India has done for the ungrateful Maldives bastards.

I am posting a few links on Indian economic/defence/medical and emergency aid to Maldives as the island nation got repeatedly ransacked by nature and local political turmoil in last two to three decades.

https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/data-stories/data-focus/grants-from-indian-government-amount-to-15-per-cent-of-maldives-budget/article67723635.ece

and finally even the covid vaccine aid:

Here is a lesson to even the Modi govt. Too much of Arab investments in India is neither healthy nor advisable. It is vital to cap their stake to under 49% in every single sector. Overdependency on Islamic nations can render us economically vulnerable to them. No Arab or Muslim can be without an agenda when it comes to India, the Hindu majority nation. We are the sore reminder to them that we defy them with our existence and survival. Finally they are one Umma. When world condemned the epicenter of global terror Pakistan for hiding Obama and for arming and training terrorists and carrying out terror attacks around the continents from Asia and Europe to America and Australia, Malaysia was still doing business with Pakistan. Never mind, India is a major trade partner with Malaysia and that the Malaysian population constitutes of 7% ethnic Indians among others. Not a single islamic country in the world has ever condemned Pakistan for their export of terror ON RECORD.

Well, having said that, it will be a miracle if Maldives survives the next 100 years or even 10 years. Maldives will be one of the earliest nations on earth to be swallowed by the oceans in near future.

Why Lakshadweep must be left alone.

As the row between Maldives and India intensifies over some useless tweets posted by insignificant political people of the island nation Maldives that is going to go down under the seas within next 100 years or even before the next tsunami strikes, I want to share a piece of my mind regarding Lakshadweep islands, off Kerala coast.

Lakshadweep islands in the Arabian sea are the union territories of Republic of India. Long back in my school days they were in news when Rajiv Gandhi vacationed there with Sonia when he was our PM. One cartoon from Illustrated Weekly on Rajiv I still remember from those days! Well that used to be my favourite weekly. Or was it fortnightly? I loved this cartoonist Mario Miranda who did caricatures on Rajiv in Lakshadweep. After that, its Modi’s turn now to step on to the islands. Lakshadweep islands also figure in Mallu pictures routinely with their fish markets, etc.

For me, Lakshadweep assumed huge prominence in my limited intellect when I read this book ‘At the feet of living things’ written by one Aparajitta Dutta and others. The book is a series of essays on 25 years of wildlife research and methodical conservation efforts in India. The published papers also include a couple on coral reefs off Lakshadweep islands that are dying a slow death like in rest of the oceans. The atolls are a total biodiverse ecological system. We have a very fragile marine ecosystem in and around Lakshadweep which could be on the verge of collapse already , thanks to relentless fishing and tourism industry that brings in environmental degradation with it. Endangered species like the dugongs too make the shelfs along the archipelago their home. Then there are the olive ridleys. These are besides the corals that are bleaching white. The bleaching of corals has been contagious now for decades in every single ocean on earth. The seagrass meadows are the carbon capturers under the oceans that clean up our atmosphere and give us the much needed breathing air. Research scholars in India go out of the way to pool funds and support nature conservation. The National Conservation Foundation (NCF) plays a vital role as an NGO helping with fundings and research which will go a long way in maintaining the precious ecological balance in India. Their prime concern is to stop forthwith or at least slow down environmental degradation that is happening at an alarming pace. At this rate, none of the future generations will be able to walk around Lakshadweep or go for snorkelling the way Modi ji was seen doing in the Lakshadweep islands.

I AM REQUESTING OUR PRIME MINISTER MODI JI TO READ THIS BOOK ‘AT THE FEET OF LIVING THINGS’ WHOLLY TO UNDERSTAND WHY I REGRET HIS LAKSHADWEEP VISIT AND THE PUBLICITY THAT SURROUNDED THE EVENT. May the Maldives win the battle. India with her conservation efforts can win the war eventually.

What a flurry of activity in social media on Maldives/Lakshadweep. Why such a reaction to Maldives comments. You may disregard and choose not to react. Why should the travel companies cancel their bookings. Whose loss is it anyway. Why the scathing attack on Makemytrip. These people are answerable to their clients. Their loyalty to their their feeding hands is business ethics.

Comments on Modi by Maldives ministers must be taken at diplomatic level. This trial by social media and mass media is not only awkward but sounds immature for a profound democracy like India.

May Lakshadweep be left alone. We have Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius, Bali, Langkawi, Hawaii etc., etc., for beachside vacations. Lakshadweep are precious. More tourists will KILL Lakshadweep way too sooner and completely nullify the good and sustaining and consistent efforts put forth by our research scientists in conserving our ocean wealth. WHEN SHALL WE START LOOKING AT LONG TIME GAIN OVER SHORT TERM PROFITS.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India also enjoy a special status when it comes to conservation, with most parts protected. The Andamans also boasts of the world’s only aboriginal tribe surviving to this day even if their numbers have come down drastically: the Jarawas.

Conservation is not a single day affair. Conservation is a long term commitment requiring resources, research and dedication in equal measures.

WHY IS MAINTAINING AND UPKEEP OF A HEALTHY MARINE ECOSYSTEM IMPORTANT? For novices, it may come as a complete surprise to learn that the seagrass meadows absorb the excess carbon from our atmosphere. They are our ozone cleaners. We breathe thanks to our marine life. The oceans are our oxygen pumps.

May our government close the doors on Lakshadweep for good barring the locals and business people from Kerala with vested interests/ties in the islands. This will do India good in the long run. I did not get to see a single sensible post on Lakshadweep in the media/social media – which exposes the halfbaked knowledge of the paid journalists. For them, anything that can be sensationalized will butter their bread nicely, that’s all. News is for TRP ratings. The irresponsibility of the media and jingoistic public reaction with the social media superheroes going ballistic over Maldives is nothing short of despicable.

The chardham project already has seen a cave-in. Unlike other mountains, Himalayas rose out of volcanic eruptions on the movement of tectonic plates causing earthquakes. The Himalayan region is a very sensitive seismic spot. Go against nature, you will pay dearly with life and loss of property that shall take too much resources and time to rebuild. Kedarnath floodings are another proof.

I appreciate our PM Modi ji for his zeal and enthusiasm – after all he is human even if prime minister. It is heartwarming to see him post pictures of temples and forests and mountains and seas and missiles and parades and science labs and tech industries. He is flying sorties, he is snorkeling, he is trekking habbada! But I guess that this one time, his Lakshadweep venture backfired. May be he is not yet aware of what a damage his Lakshadweep posts could do. There will be a chain reaction: more footfalls, more crass commercial tourism and finally DEATH OF LAKSHADWEEP, DEATH OF THE CORAL REEFS OF INDIA, EXTINCTION OF ENDANGERED SPECIES SUCH AS OLIVE RIDLEYS, DUGONGS ETC., ETC. Should Lakshadweep be opened up, expect the shit to hit the fan. All will be over in under twenty years with Lakshadweep gangraped and cast off after misuse and disrespect. It runs a shiver down my spine. I feel such a sadness clutch my heart as I envision what is going to happen to Lakshadweep…

RESPONSBILITY: You know this is such a powerful word. We in this generation are eating into our next generation’s health and wealth – anybody gets it. The man who took over the elephant corridor stealing government forest lands calls himself Sadhguru. The yogi who encroached into and took over rainforests in east India for his ayurvedic multi million company calls himself a sanyasi. The jogis minting millions owning corporations can happen only in India. This is India. This is also Hindu Dharma is it not. Finally when all is done and dusted, hopefully our children and grandchildren who may never get to see a single tree or elephant will have the coins and currency notes to eat for lunch and dinner.

One minute @shahrukhkhan @srk

Hello Shah Rukh Khan, yes the Bollywood superhero. One minute.

Before I come to the matter, I have this to say. I have watched some interviews/speeches of yours over years where you have spoken about losing your parents at a younger age. In one very recently you spoke about your maternal grandfather which is rare. Mostly you make mention of your paternal grandfather only. So I was surprised to learn that he worked in Mangalore for a brief time as an engineer. Let me make one more thing clear: I am not celebrity obsessed. I don’t follow any of them. I don’t cling to their words or actions. Since you flood social media, sometimes we are forced to look up the catchy phrases.

During my recent visit to Mangalore I had the lucky chance of discussing your maternal grandfather with my friend’s mom who is a septuagenarian. This retired lady teacher knew your grandfather personally. May be you have heard about him from someone earlier. But when we accidentally hit upon the subject, aunty spoke about one Shri Iftiqar Ahmed who was your maternal grandfather. She also spoke about your mother who was then a little girl. She knew them personally. Your grandfather then worked for NMPT, the New Mangalore Port Trust in a senior position. So he was also in the board of aunty’s school as chairman or whatever capacity. NMPT were the founders of KV, Suratkal. So their top men also doubled up as board president in KV. At that time, NMPT was owned by Mallya group. Now I am told they are Zuari’s. Aunty has fondest memories of your grandfather. She said he was a gem, GEM, a very very kind and decent soul – WHICH IS WHY YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE TODAY. She says you are a good man, she believes you are a good human because of your grandfather. She has such an affection and respect for your family. They were originally from Delhi she said, but were on transfer in Mangalore.

Would you like to talk to aunty in person? I told aunty I would tweet you but I have had two or three twitter accounts all deleted. Plus I cannot explain myself to you in that very brief medium. Moreover my privacy matters. Here I don’t have much visitors even if I blog in public. Still I am sure, if this must reach you InshaAllah, it shall. Who knows, you may want to talk to aunty after all! I told aunty there are three possibilities: i) you may never come across this message. (ii) you may read me but ignore me or assume I am making it up (iii) you may want to get in touch with aunty. I don’t have to be in the picture. I know you have resources to locate aunty and directly reach her if you want to. Its entirely upto you. I can’t share my phone number or email. I can’t even verify you. I also don’t want to take credit. Neither are these necessary. Aunty said, if at all you may reach out to her, she could talk to you over phone or you could visit her. She wouldn’t want publicity or have her photos splashed in media. They are very quiet and decent middle class people, living a peaceful retired life. They don’t want any attention to themselves. Yet, because aunty holds so much respect and admiration and love and affection for your grandfather, she would definitely talk to you if you get in touch.

Omg I don;t even know whether you will come across this post. Anyway, my job is over now. You will have to figure out how to go about this. Or you can read this and forget it. Its okay. Perfectly understandable given your busy schedule and star status. Everyone vies for your time. You have your priorities. Aunty said if you ever visit her, what would I do. I said, I could fly to Mangalore from Chennai too – to see HER not you!

These are authentic, genuine, warm people. I am sure you can verify them. Aunty is not keeping good health so she cannot travel. Uncle is also aged. If you ever get to talk to aunty, it shall make me happy. Make us happy. If you don’t, we lose nothing. Thank you.

A Maharani like none other: Ahalyabhai Holkar

What an inspiring story is that of the Maratha queen Ahalyabhai Holkar. She is the one credited with rebuilding and restoring of Kasi Viswanath, Mathura, Somnath, Ayodhya among others that were razed to dust by the Islamic barbarians. Aurangzeb the mad dog, razed the original Vishwanath Mandir of Varnasi (aka Kashi/Benaras) in the 17th century CE. Some 40,000 sadhus then sacrificed their lives defending the temple against this ravaging despot. This is how much Hindu blood the muslims drank for centuries. The islamic invaders of India were so infuriated by the sight of faith and aura that resided in our holiest temples that dated back by millennia. They could not believe that nobody cared about their middle eastern cult. They could convert Hindus only by rape or by the point of sword. Babur the first of the Moghuls desecrated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Generations later the rabid dog Aurangzeb did not spare a single standing Hindu temple. He went after the most important shrines such as Kashi, Mathura, etc. The effect of muslim Karma you see even today: how the Afghans are living a miserable life. What about Pakistan. Rani Ahalya was phenomenal and far ahead for her times. Educated, her reign lasted for over three decades. Rani Ahalya established dharamshalas for pilgrims throughout India and also rebuilt many of the temples desecrated by the islamic terrorists.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahilyabai_Holkar

The boatman in Kashi narrated to me the legend of the Maharani that led to the resurrection of the Kashi Vishwanath. A pious lady, Ahalya found herself scooping three Shiva Lingas when she was having a ritual bath in the river Narmada. She dropped them back into the river. Then she had a dream prophecy after which she once more found the three Shiva Lingas in the Narmada river. This time, the instruction was clear. She was ‘told’ in her dream to go to Varnasi and reclaim the lost/razed Vishwanath temple. Queen Ahalya went to Kashi. She put the three Lingas in the banks of river Ganga. One did not move but stayed. Rest two she gave away to Ma Ganga. The one we see today is the same Shiva Linga Maharani Ahalya brought from river Narmada, hundreds of kilometers away from the Ganges. The Shiva Linga yielded by Narmada is Swayambu and came direct from Shiva. This is the Kashi Vishwanath we worship ever since. Ahalya made a mandir where the Shiva Linga settled on its own. It was too close to the mosque that Aurangzeb raised over the desecrated original Kashi Vishwanath. Ganga probably swelled upto here during monsoons, especially centuries back. Like all rivers, Ganga too has retreated now to narrow ribbon state giving rise to muddy banks. Ahalyabhai raised once again the Kashi Vishwanath temple following the prophecy. She modeled the temple on one raised by a Maratha king closer.

Another popular version about the whereabouts of Vishwanatha Lingam:

https://www.facebook.com/reel/703379548423840

The original Garbagriha (sanctum sanctorum) was desecrated by Aurangazeb who built the hideous mosque where exactly the original Shiva Linga stood for over 3000 years in the same spot. Given the mammoth size of the Nandhi, you can imagine, how huge the original Kashi Vishwanath must have been. Even today you can see the Nandhi (bull) facing the mosque which is a dead giveaway. In Hindu temples, the Nandhi faces Shiva. Presently the Kashi Viswanath Nandhi overlooks the masjid. Now a court case is on reclaiming the disputed land, with irrefutable evidence provided by the Nandhi. Even monsters like Aurangzeb leave some loopholes in history, as we reckon. What made him not take out the Nandhi is ponderable. Perhaps he wanted Nandhi for his mosque, with the Nandhi paying obeisance to his desert god, gazing at the mosque. Today that single error of his is giving us Hindus wide scope to recover our lost temple. We are the passive, complacent Hindus. We go the legal way. Muslims live pathetic lives in many countries where they are majority. As a goodwill measure, why can’t the Indian muslims handover the original historic holy shrines of Hindus back to us. This is Hindu India where Dharma is our culture.

Rani Ahalya rebuilt many more temples including Ayodhya and Mathura, the birth places of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna that were also ransacked by the muslim marauders. The islamic way of life is plunder, thievery and bloody murder. They had no ethics, no culture. Even the arab countries that are seeing oil wealth today were historically pirates only who waylaid maritime vessels in the high seas and looted merchants. Every mosque in India thus stands on desecrated Hindu temples only. Somnath was raided for over 14 times as it was the richest temple of India then. India was the richest country in the world with most advanced civilization, culture and heritage. With the conquest, the islamic marauders razed everything to dust and decamped with diamonds and gold jewelry just the way they burnt down ancient India’s Nalanda university to ashes destroying tens of thousands of priceless manuscripts that put Bharat back by centuries.

The congress deshdrohis inflicted unspeakable damage on Hindus even as late as Narasimha Rao’s time:

Let us hope that Vishwanath reclaims the Gyanvapi mosque which is originally His. The people of Kashi are pained and have been living with the trauma for generations. No Hindu family in Kashi is able to digest the mosque in the Hindu holy shrine. They have been told the bloody story by their great grandparents and grandparents. As you do ‘pradakshina’ (circumambulation) in Kashi Viswanath, as the mosque looms larger in the background, your blood boils.

As it turned out, Aurangzeb realized his folly much later in life. Probably he had a premonition that Karma would be catching up with the muslim invaders soon. After him the Moghul dynasty started nosediving as the Marathas were gaining upperhand. Had the British not arrived, the Marathas would have reclaimed entire India and reconverted many muslim converts. Belatedly like a penance, Aurangzeb raised a dozen Hindu temples in compensation for the heinous and blasphemous crimes he committed. But his repentance came too late. By then the irreversible damage was done. Rest is history as we bear witness to how the west pounds the islamic nations rendering them to dust.

Compared to muslims, the British feared touching Hindu temples. Many British actually worshipped at Hindu temples and became ardent devotees. The legend of ‘Eri Katha Ramar’ temple is well documented for instance.

There is a ghat that goes by Ahalya’s name until today in Kashi. Of the 84 ghats that dot the Ganga, there are those named after Raja Ranjit Singh etc. Many Hindu kings were patrons of our temples who contributed richly to building of our temples. Our dharamshalas were dorms that were free guesthouses for pilgrims visiting from all across India.

Some snippets from Ahalya’s life:

  • Widowed at 29, she was stopped from committing ‘sati’ – the Hindu custom of throwing oneself into the funeral pyre of the husband when widowed, by her father-in-law. Hindus live like the albatrosses. Whereas even in 50s, the muslim and christian men and women are looking for dating. Ahalya never remarried, being so young and rich and born a princess. In Islam, such a princess must have remarried a dozen times to different men begetting sons and daughters from different men.
  • Home schooled. Traveled across the length and breadth of India when there were no roads or efficient modes of transport.
  • Able administrator and warrior princess who led the battalion from forefront that won respect from the British.

Imagine how sick Kareena and Saif must be to name their son Timur.

Gomudra is odourless and bitter.

Got to sample Gomudra, the cow urine, during my recent temple tour to the Kumbakonam-Mayavaram belt. We Hindus normally do ‘prokshanam’ (one or two drops on our head) with river water or sea water or cow urine for cleansing (if not bathing). But there are friends of mine who may gulp down a glass of gomudra (!) without batting their eye lids – for their medicinal properties (as well as spiritual). As per Hindu culture and traditions and as per Ayurveda, the Hindu medicine system, gomudra is anti-cancer and has potential to cure many severely debilitating diseases and improve our immunity at the same time. So then came the Americans who as usual patented the cow urine benefits stealing one more Hindu practice and announcing it to the world that it is their discovery. What Hindus have been observing for thousands of years is just like that American invention now. So much has been stolen from our Vedas and claimed to be invention by Europeans and Americans, so what is this really. First they ridicule you, then they study your works and ways of life and then they present it as research papers and patent Asian ways. I have to add here that the NRI Americans are the No.1 culprits who are good at backstabbing India.

Anyway, Gomudra did not have odour! It tasted bitter. I just had a gulp that’s all. More than that I could not manage. Walking on barefoot on the goshala (cow shed floors), I was asked not even to wash my foot or my hands (after handling the gomudra stainless steel tumbler that had stains). I didn’t. The very old caretaker and his wife who took care of the goshala asked us not to rinse our hands and retain the goodness as long as possible. I believe in ancient Hindu wisdom. A motherless calf won my heart. We fed heartily the cow mothers and calves and even one or two bulls, all pure Indian strains.

A Hindu temple is a complete eco-system supporting goshalas (cow sheds), gardens with stala vrukshas (maintained gardens with local tree as flagship tree for the temple), performing stages for artistes such as vocalits, instrumentalists and dancers, sales counters for holy items such as rudraksha (prayer beads) etc., madappalli (kitchens where Neivedya (food for offering) may be prepared for the Gods and later for the ‘Prasad’ to be distributed to devotees), dining halls for free lunch for devotees (financed from temple collections/donations). In front of the temple or within temple complexes will be one or two or even three water tanks with steps from four sides leading to the water, minimum an acre in size. This is how ancient Hindus raised their temples: acres huge with a life on their own. The ancient Hindu temples boasted of a self-sustaining economy with trades executed within the temple walls. The temples even had granaries/barns within them. The temples had four grand entrances with towers raising to several hundred feet with marvellous architecture in four different streets east, west, north, south. Jewelry of the gods and goddesses invited the moslem invaders and the British who engaged in mindless looting and destruction. Even today many ancient temples down south stand erect, easily thousand to two thousand years old. They still function to be repository of vast information and wealth. The intrinsic wealth of India even after centuries of onslaught by the muslims and by the British cannot be estimated in figures. One has to see it to believe it. You need years to undertake a complete tour of the ancient Hindu temples of India. The bronze and gold and ‘panchaloka’ figurines themselves along with stone sculptures cannot be given a price tag. And imagine, this is after the destruction of everything Hindu for centuries by muslim invaders. The British simply shipped so much of our Hindu wealth including gems and jewelry and sculptures to Britain. Yes, including the Kohinoor diamond that belongs to Badrakali, the fierce goddess of Warangal. Whoever stole the gemstone from her will stand to be destroyed. This is why Queen Elizabeth never wore it. UK will become the first European caliphate within a century.

North is left with hardly a grand temple structure because the moslems razed everything Hindu to dust. Taj Mahal is believed to be a razed Hindu marble temple typical of north, going by name Tejo Shivalaya. It has a kumbh sitting atop and it has water in the front, which is synonymous with Hindu temples. Qutb Minar in Delhi still has Hindu temple pillars standing and supporting the islamic place. Every single Hindu temple was struck down by islamists who raised their mosques and worse still, mausoleums over the rubbles. But look at Afghanistan now. Look at Islamic nations in general. Karma.

Without ablutions, devotees were never allowed into temples until a century or two ago. You had to take the mandatory shower and enter the temple sanctum only in wet clothes. Which is why, Hindu temples were always located by sea side or river side. Even so, they came with the customary water tank holdings that improved underground water levels in the surrounding areas and served as storage in summers. For instance, the city of Chennai alone has at least 15 one acre water tanks attached to Hindu temples, each storing valuable rain water harvest and recharging the ground water table of Chennai. This is why I as well as fellow Hindus never hesitate when it comes to taking a sip of the cow urine from our temple goshalas or even outside it. Our forefathers knew what they did. The Indian cow milk is also rich with A2 minerals, something not found in the Jerseys or other strains from Europe. Next to mothers’ milk, only A2 milk can be digestible to newborn babies and can be used as a substitute. Hindus never introduce babies to A1 or the buffalo milk until 2 or 3 years as family practice. Now A2 is also patented by America and A2 milk is sold in cartons. Every single Indian cattle genetic line is fused with European bulls ensuring maximum destruction of A2 productivity in Asian nations. Already we are at the stage where an Indian cow cannot reproduce on her own but can only be impregnated via IVF with the semen from the imported Jersey bull. Not only India, every other Asian nation is caught in this trap. America and Europe produce only A1 milk whereas A2 milk helps in brain growth and is supposed to be a reason for the children’s smartness in India. Tamil Nadu, my home state, fought a terrible battle against PETA, etc., to retain certain local customs that engaged in bull racing but protected and stopped the native strains from going to extinction. The foreign NGOs had imposed a court ban on Indian traditional life, how is this?! We in India try our maximum to save native breeds of cattle apart from saving native food grains and seeds without contamination from the western strains imported from America or Europe.

Cow urine has been granted US Patents (No. 6,896,907 and 6,410,059) for its medicinal properties, particularly as a bioenhancer and as an antibiotic, antifungal and anticancer agent.

This is intellectual theft in broad daylight from Hindus who have been saying this for thousands of years. India never cared for patents because we believe, we have no need as this is our natural way of life for centuries, millennia – until the Europeans and Americans came along and started patenting everything native and Hindu as theirs! Lost a lot and losing lot more. Lost neem patent for poxes, lost some herbal patents for jaundice, etc., etc. Now we cough up in dollars to the international pharmaceuticals that sell us in capsules our own formula. India is fighting a losing battle.

Very recent addition to the list is the Turmeric latte sold by Starbucks. While it is everyday Indian bedtime drink, I don’t think Starbucks ever attributed the recipe to Hindus/Indians. Especially in winters or when we run a cold or sore throat, having a hot mug of turmeric milk, with or without ground peppercorn added, is our typical home remedy. Turmeric is added to every single Indian recipe and there is simply no Indian cuisine without turmeric. Now world knows Turmeric latte as American/Starbucks’ invention.

‘Work from home’ will not make a CEO out of anyone.

Sometime back Shri. Narayana Murthy, the Infosys founder, came out strongly against the WFH/Hybrid culture that is gaining grounds not only in India but around the world. Working from home started in a big way from Covid times even if it existed minimally from earlier. A friend of mine has been working from home for a multinational IT company in Bangalore for over twenty years now, due to family circumstances. WFH is not entirely a new or strange concept. But those who engaged in WFH formerly, already had a sound working experience in office environs. They reached a point where WFR made no difference to their productivity or output. Career-wise they probably peaked and had lengthiest service behind them, looking forward to retirement in near future. Whereas the new crop of WFH have no idea what it is to work for an organization and as a unit and build an institution together. They worked like individual islands with least co-ordination. They may fail to get the overall picture. Work-life balance is fine but that shall get you nowhere. THERE IS SIMPLY NO SHORT-CUT TO SUCCESS. You don’t become a CEO overnight. Nobody who became one worked from home. Those who made it to the top slogged in office buildings for 17-18 hours per day to reach the spot where they are today. I can’t help agreeing with Murthy. Murthy also came down heavily against the so-called ‘moonlighting’ by WFH staff whose integrity and loyalty to their paymasters took a beating with their growing greed for making it bigger and better in shorter duration. The very ethics and work morals of the working people became a question mark. There have been instances of WFH guys getting thrown out of their jobs when it was discovered that they divided their loyalty with more than one employer at a time with moonlighting practice. Working in office with co-staff gave one the discipline and transparency and motivation to work harder and achieve common goals and targets. Working in tandem resulted in improved growth parameters. That is what made leaders in the corporate world. The very human touch is absent in WFH environment. So if you consider yourself a CEO material, stay focused and work harder. The words of the founder and mentor of the first Indian corporate to get listed in NASDAQ are not to be taken lightly. They are of profound wisdom from rich working culture bred from ethics and values and morals that are found lacking in current generation. These are the bricks that build the foundation for a strong and healthy nation. WFH/Hybrid culture may work out anywhere but not in India.

Vande Bharat: At What Cost.

Imagine climbing up a flight of stairs – some 20 steep steps – from platform 9, walking over the footbridge and then descending down another 20 with your travel bags wheeled or unwheeled, shopping bags, handbag, etc., etc. by morning 4 am when not a single porter is around. That is how I recently got to Egmore station exit after alighting from my train. Egmore, Chennai is the second main railway station in the city after only to Chennai Central. All the trains to the state start from Egmore. Other state trains start running from Central. Egmore is also where Chennai Metro converges at underground level with Egmore railways station. So essentially we have two railway systems in the city converging at Egmore where passengers interchange trains/stations depending on their destinations. That makes Egmore railway station a hotspot.

There is a single elevator and a single elevator at service on one far end in Egmore (at the side entrance) but even they work only upto reaching the level of footbridge. From the footbridge to the train platform, you have to haul your luggage, no other go. And most importantly you can avail of either facility only when you go to Egmore to board a train for your onward journey. Both are not available when you are on return to Chennai and are unlucky enough to disembark at far-off platforms wherefrom you cannot walk out without climbing up and down flights of stairs. The plight of the elderly who have already spent tiring hours traveling by train is pathetic. No question of the station being disabled-friendly. So when you don’t take care of the basics, what is the need to go for Vande Bharat first of all. I have boarded the same Vande Bharat o Madurai CONVENIENTLY FROM PLATFORM 1 or 2 that don’t need you to sweat it out. Chennai is the state capital and if one of the two main railways stations in the city must be lacking fundamental amenities for passengers, then why do we need Vande Bharat at all.

My only solace was that, I carried 20 kg suitcase of mine, my shopping bags and my handbag all together up 20 steep steps and down again to catch a cab back home. I heaved for breath but I made it in single piece which means my heart must be ok! But this is a poor excuse to pardon the railways department for failing commuters grandly in basic and important matters which make them unreliable. This is not just gross negligence, this is the habitual apathy of our government that’s all. Most of us in my age band have life conditions such as blood pressure and diabetes. I am not used to hauling weights as well. I was worried really how my heart would take it. Up the stairs meant that I had to physically lift my luggage and could not drag it. Railways department puts those like me to unnecessary hardship. If this is the scenario in Chennai, think about the state of affairs in tier 2, tier 3 cities and towns.

This is why I am against modernization of Indian railways. Luxury can wait. First cater to the basics. Build more paid lavatories in the junctions which is more important. Every single railway station in India must have an escalator and an elevator both ways up and down connecting the two ends of the footbridge. The upper middle class of India can fly out easily. The Indian railways is for the middle classes and lower middle classes. This is why Indian railways must NEVER be privatized. There is more need for added essential/vital amenities at our railways stations and junctions than for the superfast and sleek Vande Bharat series of trains. And to give the best accessible platform to Vande Bharat trains is another sad reality. It is also alleged that to maintain time for Vande Bharat express trains, other trains meant for the general janata are put on hold at signals. Having traveled by Vande Bharat to Madurai, I appreciate the service. But overt focus on sophistication of Indian railways may be diverting funds meant for upgrade of the services and amenities meant for the welfare and comfort of the masses.

Indian government must focus on improving the quality of life for the man in the street not for our creamy classes at the expense of middle classes. So are the middle classes only your vote bank who don’t deserve to be treated better? Who is the tax evader? The business communities fudge figures not the salaried middle classes who have nothing to hide. Its the elite of India who run a parallel black money market, not the hardworking and honest and transparent tax paying middle classes. Hoping to see what is necessary done at our Egmore station in near future. I am tagging PMO, PM, INDIAN RAILWAYS.

My respect for Wilbur Smith plummeted after reading his autobiography.

‘On Leopard Rock’ must have been posthumously published in Smith’s name. It is his autobiography. As a couple of his works as published/written/completed by third person after his lifetime, my favourite author’s lifestory also disappointed me thoroughly . I think its high time AUTHORS STOP AUTHORIZING ANYONE TO PUBLISH BOOKS IN THEIR NAMES AFTER THEIR LIFETIME. This is because I am sure, if the author may be around, he/she would be editing the manuscript until the nth moment. They may retract their earlier opinions, they may add more to the subject. Plus the pseudonyms of the fictions completed by third parties on behalf of original authors give away themselves. However in this case, my disappointment has got to do more with the author’s lifestyle.

Its true we must not associate the authors with what they preach in their books. Before coming to the subject, let me record here what I liked about Smith’s story. I liked his determination, self-confidence bordering on overconfidence! His fluid imagination and ease of language. His prose like none other! He chartered his own path and remained offbeat throughout his career. His AUTHENTICITY matters to me most. He wrote ONLY FROM HIS PERSONAL EXPERIENCES drawing very little or almost nothing from outside resources. This Smith reiterates in the last many pages of his book: of how it is important for writers to be AUTHENTIC AND PARSIMONIOUS – which means NOT DEPENDING ON INFORMATION SOURCES to build up stories. I think its a big takeaway for all aspiring authors. For me, even if I am just an amateur blogger, its a very useful tip. Even otherwise I don’t lift others’ ideas. But plagiarism is a big headache I know. There are quite a few who may want to slip into others’ shoes faking identities! The originals keep it low! One more thing: being parsimonious means keeping your resources limited, which is kind of akin to being authentic. Here and there you can quote and unquote but nothing more than that passing reference. We simply cannot hijack others’ imagination and intuitivity as our own. Only living a well traveled life and drawing from the experience of the deep well called life can lend your writing the stamp of authenticity.

Secondly I liked the zest for life in the author: how from fishing for marlin in the Atlantic/Pacific to salmon in Alaska, to hunting the king of the jungle lion (in self defence) and from skiing to snorkelling, Smith left no stone unturned when it came to living life to its fullest is awesome. This kind of spirit is infectious. It proves how successful he was around the world that enabled him to live life kingsize. Why he even owned a piece of exotic island in the Seychelles! Got himself a fourth wife half his age! But there stops the admiration for Wilbur Smith the adventurous author for me.

For all the African love that Smith professes and showcased in his works, and for the way he grew up and drank Africa literally, I wish he had done something more to Africa. It looks like he consumed every single penny he made – as connoisseur of choicest wine to big shopper and world class traveler that he was. True, creative people need an alcove to bury themselves in to discover themselves. Still how really empty and hollow his lifestyle sounds to my ears after all his heroics with words. From someone who talks too much, you expect REAL SUBSTANCE IN LIFE. Its not just Smith. Many artistes disappoint us with their actual persona when they cannot measure up to the image they create in the public mind with their works. Their selfishness bores you and saddens you after a point. Its I, Me, Myself out and out. Absolutely zero empathy for any cause. How Smith sounds almost uncaring when writing about apartheid in South Africa appears callous to me. But cleverly he seems to balance it with his reference to kinship with Mandela and at the same time Jon Botha who he incredulously credits with easing the racist policies. He never seems to take a side. He must have been one very politically correct fellow who bothered about only one thing: his name and fame and money. He though seems to have learnt his lesson rubbing shoulders with celebrities of America. In short, there seems to have been the big void of SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN WILBUR SMITH that sounds sorely disappointing.

Until he lived, I had not a single book of his unread. Post his demise, I found that the book published in his name WAS NOT REALLY HIS. Couldn’t have been. Someone killed it. May be a hired author. Or may be a similar author who was writing for a fee his autobiography from notes/manuscripts left behind, left out some good portions that would have shown Wilbur Smith as a better man, a compassionate, empathetic human being.

What always gets on my nerves is how these Brits hunted down virtually most of the stunning wildlife of Africa, India etc. In India, an Englishman drove herds of elephants into ambush and killed over 330 Indian wild elephants in one single day with rifle shots. Its a historical record. Today it is these people who are lecturing the world on conservation. The damage done to Africa is worse. The way Smith talks about his landed estate in Africa also got under my skin. Whose bloody property! Finally he seems to have moved to UK – which sounded good. And look, who is talking about immigration these days.

I respect knowledge, sense of adventure, skills, mastery of arts and sciences etc. But those who don’t have these abilities are in no way less. Its not an open invite for the bolder ones to go and conquer rest of the world. By the same law, reverse immigration is taking place now as Africans and Asians are pouring into Europe and America – in the age of passport and visa. Nature will balance everything and restore the equilibrium. Course correction will happen, whether we like it or not.

All said, the Smith characters are etched in my heart: especially Taita. Thanks to him, I am more and practically educated! Read his books years and years back so I don’t remember details. Incidentally, his first books is what I read first of his as well: When the lion feeds. Sean Courtney is someone I can never forget in my life! Almost fell in love with him in my younger age – never mind he is fictional!

I grew up adoring Smith which is why his lifestyle to me is a big disappointment. I expected him to live a more fruitful life that would have benefited humanity in some way other than by way of his writing. Social responsibility must be the basic commitment for individuals who may be highly influential in any society. When I wrote a review on one of his books ‘the Seventh scroll’ on Egypt, I had an uncanny feeling that Smith read that. I saw many hits from South Africa and UK. There were repeated hits going on for days. I can’t explain how or why. I just knew in my heart that Smith read my review. I think I got a mail also from his office or whoever, may be his agent, asking how much I liked Smith. I don’t remember because in those days, my son was in standard 12 or Engineering I think, so I paid least attention to these things. In fact even Jeffrey Archer was in Landmark signing his books. I didn’t go because I had to cook and do puja at home! Now I can’t believe I did that! But at that point of time, home came first always! I don’t remember what I did with the mail about Smith. Whether even I replied, I am not sure. But that confirmed to me that somehow he must have come across my review and that he read it personally. To my knowledge, he remained a very tech savvy person updating himself on all frontiers. His demise also I was aware of. It was well reported in Indian print media. With Seventh scroll, I always believe in my heart that my lifetime favourite author read my review and probably thought of me for a second!

I can’t help smiling at Wilbur Smith writing about Taita wanting to plant himself somewhere in the picture, portraying himself quintessentially in his murals to mark his place in eternity.  Isn’t the author doing the same with frequent reference to himself on many occasions in the book?!  Perhaps Wilbur Smith thinks he is the modern day Taita.  His vivid imagination and detailing of things is spellbinding.  Its like i was seeing a 3D picture!  I have loved each and everyone of his books right from day one and so ‘The Seventh scroll’ also lived up to my expectation.

This is part of my review and somehow I believe right now that this inspired Smith to refer to himself as Taita in his autobiography! Like, he is confirming my suspicion!

Anyway a life lived too well, exuberantly! All round! Nothing lacking really. What an amazing amazing life filled with adventure and good fortune and creativity and sheer happiness and contentment! For this I have to hand a trophy to Wilbur Smith posthumously! Gifted author, gifted human being. One in many billions. Lucky. Old and limited edition. They don’t come like this any more.

Difference between Bollywood heroes & South Indian superstars.

Where is your social responsibility SHAH RUKH KHAN. Are you not ashamed of yourself. Where is yours ALIA BHAT. SHAME ON YOU GUYS! Women in Dharawi are better than you and live with honour. Whatever they engage in, its for a decent square meal a day.

WAtching for the umpteenth time a commercial featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar endorsing a paan gutka Vimal (Elaichi/Kesar) (chewable, TOBACCO with Indian flavours), and Ranveer Singh promoting openly Royal Stag (liquor) brand it struck me that NOT A SINGLE TAMIL HERO LIKE RAJNI KANTH OR KAMAL HASAN OR EVEN OTHERS LIKE VIJAY OR AJITH OR VIJAY SETHUPATHI OR SIMBU OR SIVA KARTHIKEYAN OR SIVAKUMAR (OLDER GEN) etc., endorsed any product especially tobacco or alcohol in their life time. Only Abbas who was a flop Tamil hero appeared in Harpic ad for years. For unemployment reasons, he reportedly moved downunder to NZ where he works 9 to 5 to make ends meet. Making it so big in their careers as superstars for 3 generations, none of the Tamil actors ever took to earn from commercials (including NON TOBACCO/ALCOHOL FMCG products) or from too many stage shows overseas or from dancing in hifi weddings like Bollywood heroes do for the right price. From Aishwarya Rai to Shahrukh Khan everyone entertained guests with Bollywood dance moves at Lakshmi Mittal daughter’s wedding some fifteen years back – and that was just one show. The wedding goes down Guinness records as most expensive one in world history, for the wealthiest man Mittal is. How many commercials starring Amitabh Bachchan. If SRK is the richest star in India, it is because he is not making a life out of cinema alone. Brand endorsements pay bigtime. Shows abroad and gracing weddings shaking a leg may comprise a good percentage of the revenues of these Hindi superstars. None of the Tamil heroes sold their soul that way but stuck to only their business – or in this case, their occupation. Nobody wears makeup in real life – 99% of them. They don’t have an image to protect at all. Rajni Kanth is down to earth simple, clad in white dhoti and brazenly appearing with a full bald head for decades now in public. He is our reigning superstar since the 1970s. Money and more money can be made anyway. But to have principles in life and to follow them under whatever conditions is something very different and difficult. Only Mallu hero Mamooty I have watched in a dhoti commercial. A rare endorsement. Otherwise extremely rare to spot any south Indian hero in commercials endorsing brands. Or dance in stage shows selling tickets. IN shows, their mere presence can do the trick for them. Their speeches draw the fans to them. Such a picture of dignity. What is the point in shaving the chest hair and going for sculpting your face and hair transplants over an age. Aging with dignity is class. Plus the public must be taught to accept even the superheroes the way they are. That way the masses can disconnect the actual man from the filmy hero and won’t get carried away by useless fantasies. Same applies for Bollywood heroines like Kareena and now even Alia Bhat featuring in commercials. ALIA, A YOUNG MOTHER, PROMOTING ROYAL STAG OR WHATEVER BRAND OF LIQUOR IS SHOCKING! Never watched a single south Indian heroine sell a product and worst of all alcohol. Well, THIS IS NOT COOL! Its easy to say that our heroines are duskiest and may not appeal to the national audience which is untrue. DArk skin tone is favoured down south. Over a point, whether you have 2 billion or 3 billion doesn’t matter. The more you endorse paan for the youth of India in cricket season making a killing, the more you can expect your kid to to do drugs in luxury yacht anchored off Mumbai coast. The fortune made from the paan will come in handy to bail out the son caught doping, is it not so Shahrukh? Tell me please. We have a word for this: Karma. Rajnikanth used to be popular for his cigarette tricks. But when he learnt that youth followed him, he stopped appearing smoking in public and never acted another scene showing him smoking on screen. The greed of the Bollywood superstars never ceases to amaze me. Not to forget that they were all spotted in company of the D gang in Sharjah matches. Such a criminal mafia nexus. All that they are making out of their films and film rights and shows don’t seem to satisfy the Bollywood heroes. They have to endorse the tobacco, liquor and if permitted even dope who knows to make a little extra even as a bad influence on Indian youth who follow and mimic them in every way, not just in clothes or hairstyle. SHAHRUKH KHAN do you even have an ounce of shame or social responsibility.

MINTING MILLIONS AND MILLIONS. IS THERE SOMETHING REMARKABLE AND THAT WOULD GO INTO HISTORY BY WAY OF CHARITABLE ACT, UNDERTAKEN BY SHAHRUKH KHAN. NO, NEVER. NEVER IN THE PAST, NEVER IN FUTURE.
