I may blog a lot of political stuff but I am NO POLITICAL PERSON. But if I could carry one political regret to my grave, it might be that of missing Bernie Sanders right down our street, in Tucson. Tuscon is rare blue in the otherwise red Arizona. Heart asked me to go, but common sense prevailed and mind said a BIG NO. ITS NOT MY BATTLE. ITS NOT MY COUNTRY. I hold huge respects for this wise old man in any case. Under different circumstances, this must have been possible. I realized the magnitude of what I missed only when people (on my return) were astonished that I gave the meeting a miss. Some 23,000 strong crowd had gathered to listen to this wonderful gentleman. I was anyway just a guest in the US. A visitor. Not a political person at all. I don’t attend any political meetings even in India and I am member of no political party. I deliberately gave a miss of even our PM Shri Modi’s gathering here in Doha where access to him could have been easier. Many went to listen to his speech from a stadium. I am just a tax paying, law abiding Indian citizen from middle class, that’s all, who blogs for pastime. Nothing to write home about. A simple housewife, a grandma. But I did listen to Bernie a little bit on You tube. No comments except that, his profound wisdom does touch my heart. My eyes almost became moist when I registered that decency of the soul is the most elegant way of life.
I can think of quite a few journos who would have loved to exchange places with me that day!
