What India can learn from the American Electoral Process.

As the Trump-Musk feud escalates, Indian media is out with their speculations. A few influencers are better than the mass media tv channels. One of them was detailing about how Elon Musk may go about forming a third political party in the United States, that is a rare occurrence though not unheard of. The analyst was laying out point-by-point, why it was a monumental task for a third front to make it in America. The first and foremost reason was that, the third political front may require signatures from at least two million registered voters to be recognized by the Election committee as a competent political party. This really left me speechless. I am leaving out the other reasons that are out of scope of this post.

I am from Tamil Nadu where we had those like filmy actor Kamal Hasan start a political party (Makkal Needhi Maiyam) just to divide votes (or so we believe in) in the state. The party was active for a very brief time and is now gone defunct. But it served the purpose. It divided the vote bank by packing home the then ruling ADMK and returning to the Assembly the DMK which was apparently the motive. It is alleged that the party was also church-sponsored. ADMK had BJP leaning. Soon as the elections were over, MNM dismantled completely overnight with key members jumping the ship to get on to other bandwagons. Many simply vanished into thin air abandoning their political careers and the lofty ideals they were touting for months wasting columns in newspapers and hours in tv debate. A key BJP candidate Annamalai lost the Coimbatore seat in parliamentary elections thanks to MNM. The founder/floater of the party Kamal Hasan himself returned to the silver screen soon after the elections, leaving no doubt about the quiet dissolving of the party. How MNM even got funded is a mystery. It came into existence in such a short time flush with resources. Church angle is most probable, that’s all. No ruling out the invisible foreign hand and connections such as Mauritius or Seychelles, just to say. Scenarios like this are very common in India if and whenever vested interests want to divide the vote bank. It happens even at the central level as we saw very recently in the last concluded Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) elections. India has a third front that comes alive around election times always. Modi’s BJP is winning despite all this tamasha.

Both India and the US are two of world’s largest democracies. India has the largest adult franchise bank in the world, with around a billion eligible voters ready to exercise their voting rights.

Indian Election Commission can take a leaf out of the American Democratic/Election process for the sake of stability of our own governments. The third party fronts, the independent candidates etc., may have to be filtered for motives. Sources of funds must be legal and established clearly and published in the gazette. We can have something like the minimum signature consent/campaign within a stipulated 60 days or 90 days based on American model, in order for a new political party to come into existence, like a mushroom shooting up in the previous night’s rains. The new front must have solid grounds by way of logic to come into existence in the first place. Otherwise the third fronts are a waste of our time, energy and resources.

I have been voting in the EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) since 2001 I guess. Now the list of candidates even for my constituency which is Central Chennai is getting lengthier and lengthier like the Hanuman tail. Too many independent contestants. There should be some basic criteria to check out the potential harmers who have it in them to inflict damage on the free and fair elections in India. Many promising candidates lose out to this third front/independent candidate mafia. Most independent candidates as well as the new third or fourth or fifth fronts, etc., that shoot up in India both at central and state levels have only one agenda: TO DIVIDE THE VOTE BANK UNSCRUPULOUSLY AND UPSET THE APPLE CART. This is nefarious and criminal ideology that needs to be addressed by our Election commission. Very recently actor Vijay from Tamil Nadu has floated his own political party (allegedly aimed at dividing BJP votes). The church connection is bold and written on the wall.

So as per Indian think tanks, even with the hurdles and constraints in his way, Elon Musk stands a good chance of getting successful with his new political party, if he is serious about it.

Things are getting interesting from here. Me taking no sides. Just a curious spectator from India who is keeping her fingers crossed.

They say, when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches cold. This is so true, believe me. What happens in America can have repercussions in not only in India, but in all parts of the world.

I hope my prime minister as well as the Election commission of India study the American two party democratic system for its merits and tighten the entry for third fronts/independent candidates who may try to destabilize India. If someone is solid and serious like Musk, then they can have no problem with the tough norms laid out to screen potential wreckers of our democratic system. The consolation is that, India and BJP continue to win in dire circumstances!

Kick both Ambani and Shein out of India.

Why is Reliance getting back the Chinese Shein to India at an investment cost of 80,000 crores of rupees. Can Modi ji answer that please. Is this ‘make in India’ for you ji. Is this ‘atmanirbar Bharat’ for you ji. This is like selling India totally. Ours is a textile country. We in India EXPORT TEXTILES AND APPARELS don’t you know that. You see the apparels and underwears with made-in-India tag on par with those from Vietnam and China among international brands. In fact the quality of the Indian apparels is far superior to those from the other two Asian nations. Then for what nonsense reason is this Ambani getting Shein to India on such a massive scale. Modi ji, better gas our small sellers and seal our retailers. Let them die in masses so that your Ambani and Adani can prosper and become 3rd richest and 4th richest in the world. Dig our mass graves with your own hands. Will that make you happy for Adani and Ambani?

Already there are retail chains like Zudio of Tata etc., apart from foreign brands such as Marks & Spencers, Zara, H & M, Mango, Mustard etc., that are doing healthy business in India. West side of Tata can give them a run for their money with their contemporary western fashion. What is the need for Ambani to get Shein to India. He is not even manufacturing anything at his company. Marketing fellow who gets fatter everyday sucking the blood of the working middle class. Look at the garish show of his son’s wedding. Such a poor taste and a horrible human being displaying his wealth so vulgarly in a third world country like ours. That gaudy Nita Ambani who is the attention stealer from anyone and everyone so shamelessly including Olympic medal winners ! The fat useless son got a business out of sick imported wildlife. You can smell rat in the whole family. Reliance is total fraud. Let them answer what happened to their landline venture kicked off with a great fanfare. What happened to their Krishna Godavari basin oil explorations. None of their businesses is reliable. They should not have even been given licence for retailing in apparels or in the supermarkets segment.

https://www.outlookbusiness.com/corporate/why-govt-is-demanding-281-billion-from-mukesh-ambanis-reliance

Looks like our prime minister went to Vantara, at the Ambani kichdi and signed approval for Shein Reliance without a thought to our country’s economy or our masses.

May be our pm Modi ji is becoming too old to run this country and must step down. He seems to be more at ease at Ambani wedding and Vantara resort where he must be spending his retirement. No more support for him if he is going to allow this crook Ambani to get Shein back to India. This business people-government nexus is a dangerous trend, very unhealthy. It can prove to be cancerous to India.

There was no necessity for Modi to go to the US if he could bag only a BIG ZERO there for India. If Modi govt is to allow American alcohol and GM food of theirs in an already impoverished country such as ours, then even I WILL VOTE FOR THE CLOWN RAHUL GANDHI RATHER. We can take our chances. We don’t want Modi or BJP again ever. What are you doing as our prime minster unable to control the spread of dope in this country. You are in power for almost 15 years Modi ji. What concrete steps have you taken to tackle the drug menace. Can’t you see the lower middle class already drowning in alcohol? That will be the end of the road for BJP – take it from me. No more Modi, no more BJP. On the other hand, we can import from America, what will add value to Indian economy, what will enrich our lives better. India should do this homework: what is best imported from the US that can do good for both of us without damaging either party.

Its time to unseat BJP at the center. Three continuous terms have made them weak and corrupt. Like America, an Indian PM should not be allowed to be elected for more than 2 terms. Remember how Indira Gandhi kicked both Coca cola and IBM out of India. India lost nothing. India became nobody’s stooge. Grow some spine Prime minister. JUST SEE HOW EUROPE, CHINA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA everyone is fighting bravely the Tariff wars imposed on them by the US government. See how Canada reacted by blocking Alaska access to the US. America also buys electricity from Canada. India can settle this issue amicably and wisely. Choose your imports into India intelligently.

Already the govt has unilaterally approved Tesla and Starlink entry into India without consensus. Tell me which car company entered India at such a breakneck speed? Is the government that sure that the nation’s security is not under threat with starlink? Only 2 days back, Tesla disabled the Chechen cybertruck at their will. F35 key will be forever with the US. And you are allowing this kind of technology that can control us from America so easily into India? What is the problem with Indian internet. Its fastest, better than what we have in middle east and is CHEAPEST. Do you even have an idea how much people shell out for internet bills in the US or what even we NRIs pay in middle east for our broadband connection? The internet bill in India is less than a quarter of what we foot in middle east – and for better speed and connectivity. Problem in India is NOT INTERNET but erratic power supply.

Let us remind ourselves: India needs neither Tesla nor Starlink or F35s or American alcohol or their GM food. We are going to have Tesla and Starlink because they are FORCED on us, NOT WILLINGLY. My heart goes out to my poor third world nation that is yielding without a fight, betraying the BRICS and giving up all hope for survival with dignity as a bold independent fierce nation.

Hope BJP thinks a 100 times before embarking into this kind of mad misadventure. I am not bothered about Tesla. As someone posted in a comment, they will leave on their own accord in 5 years like Ford did! India is not an easy country. Unless they start manufacturing they stand no chance in India. But if they do, its win-win for both America and India. Its a long shot. Lets wait and watch. I am okay with Tesla only because it is green energy (as if anyone is waiting for my approval!).

Its very testy time for India as the country is sold piece by piece by BJP. Totally disillusioned with the center. As a tax paying citizen of iNDIA I want my prime minister MODI to kick out Shein and never get it back to India. Otherwise, I will be happy to see you go in 2029 prime minister. Remember, I am such a huge fan of yours. And if this is how you have let me down, just imagine the drop in your popularity across the country.

This post is not about China or America. Its all about MY INDIA.

India can do without those damaging loose cannon shots

When our Indian politicians and bureaucrats decide to shoot their big mouths off target, nobody can shut their nonsense and filth up. So damaging were the recent off-the-mark remarks that have sparked a fury in the Middle-east undermining India-GCC bonhomie that took years or perhaps decades to foster. So much so that our late external minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj could quote from Sanskrit at the OPEC meet where Pakistan was kept at bay. Foundation stone for Hindu temples in the Emirates were laid by ruling Arabs. Just imagine the clout India has been enjoying in the epicenter of Islamic fraternity. Millions of Indian citizens are gainfully employed in the gulf nations repatriating valuable foreign exchange over years. Indians own business enterprises, Indians run hospitals to supermarkets. Indians are successful entrepreneurs. Indians are doctors and engineers to shopkeepers and teachers. Indians are SAP professionals. Indians are bankers. Indian community is far better placed among the whole lot of expats – some 100+ nationalities, who constitute the workforce in various capacities in GCC countries. Indians enjoy unparalleled prestige and respect in the Arab world that took years and Himalayan efforts to earn. And a majority of Indians making a living in Islamic nations are HINDUS. India’s traumatic history has left some scars no doubt but we are now invested in mutually beneficial economic and productive activities in the Middle East, that has offset many a bad memory kept alive only thanks to our textbooks. In today’s context especially when world economy is sluggish and employers are cutting corners giving pink slip to long serving staff without batting their eyelids, GCC nations are doing a great job employing not just Indians but blue and white collar workers of every race, hue and faith without a discrimination.

We expat Indian Hindus feel safest and securest living in Arab countries over living in crime-ridden India. We are respected, treated fair and well provided with. We enjoy world class medical and other amenities for FREE. The Arab governments take good care of us. For most of us NRIs, it is the inevitability of returning to India for good someday that seems like a nightmare.

Exactly what is the contribution to Indian economy from the Silicon valley NRIs in the US. From the Patels of hotel chains. It is always the expats employed in Arab countries who fill India’s coffers with foreign currencies and gold bullion. It is the NRIs from middle east who drive the stock markets and real estates up with their substantial investments. Who is buying the gold bonds, debentures, retirement plans and insurances the way the expats from gulf nations do. Suppose the NRIs in the gulf nations are to be displaced, can India find suitable placement for every single one of them returning home. Its not just economics, employment in gulf also guarantees India longtime peace and spares India from civil-war like grave economic situations. The harsh truth is that, the core industry of India still cannot absorb the quantum of fresh graduates Indian universities are churning out year after year. Where will all these young men and women fit in. Partly Indian government’s headache finds a panacea in job markets open for Indian citizens in gulf countries. Unlike the US, UK, Australia and Canada who want only the creamiest Indians leading to braindrain in India, the gulf countries provide scope of better and fruitful engagement for our middle level grads and even factory and site workers. To absorb and train a healthy chunk of the core industry workers produced by India is the greatest service the GCC countries render to India. Once upon a time, it were the Keralites who comprised the maximum percentage of Indian expat community in the gulf countries. Now, there is representation from every corner of India in gulf nations. Representation found a new meaning, I mused, when I struck up a conversation with Bhutan women in a shopping mall in Qatar. There are the blue collar workers employed as site workers, chauffeurs, cooks, shop assistants, nursing staff etc., who may be otherwise jobless in India plunging the nation into misery and chaos.

Will Nupur Sharma or whichever loudmouth find jobs for millions of Indians gainfully employed in GCC countries, in India. What is the need to upset the applecart? Highly irresponsible. Years of diplomacy and political correctness and goodwill have finally come to a naught thanks to such an insensitive ignoramus. The cost of this hostility will be borne by the labour class and working class Indians working in GCC countries. Every single loose canon shot by careless Indian politicians damages the political goodwill hard-earned by the Indian diaspora over years. It only takes a moment of sheer callousness and thoughtlessness to destroy such a precious relationship that India has been traditionally enjoying with Arab countries. Our media guys are bastards. Jealous outright. They would rather see the NRIs suffer because these guys are now sweating it out in our tv studios. They will do anything to inflict damages. Then there are the TRP ratings for sensationalizing non-issues. India never took sides when the GCC countries were divided over Qatar. Top brass in India as well as GCC nations are aware of the significance of the strong ties enjoyed by both sides. It is time for Modi government to shut some loudmouths tight. India has been a great ally to Arab countries walking the tightrope, never missing a foot. Hopefully this matter dies quietly the soonest. India can do without these debilitating controversies. This is no good.

Is this a local Indian issue: May be. Media still has to play a responsible role. Sometimes the architects of riots are none but the Indian media. The ones who must be booked are the anchors who did the lead and the producers behind the stories.

Lotus Blooms!

Unabashedly Hindu. Unapologetic about Dharma. Hindu Rashtra is not only our dream and breath, it is our vision.

As Shri Narendra Modi is all set to return as our Prime Minister for a second term, a housewife’s take on the BJP led NDA’s historic Lok Sabha landslide since India’s independence:

  • Good governance and effective administration cutting red tape
  • Stability, sense of security for citizens
  • LPG subsidy : direct credit to the poor
  • Opening of Zero balance bank account for every citizen in the nation bringing rural India into banking network
  • Demonetization. The poorest were happiest at this. Media falsely reported that it was hardship to the poor. But I interact with housemaids, autowalahs, fruits sellers etc directly. They were happy to stand in queues to see that the rich were made to pay through their nose. A Kerala christian friend said, until demonetization happened, the richest NRI families in Kochi etc., used to bulk buy meat and fish raising prices for the lower middle class. After demonetization, more food in the poor man’s plate. Demonetization was a very unpopular and risky move as per critics. Modi took this calculated risk.
  • Linking of Aadhar with PAN number, LIC policies, immovable properties, bank accounts, passports eliminating corruption and regularizing the economy. Formalization/Regularization of Indian economy finally started happening that was long overdue. It is a very tough move but necessary one and healthy one in the long run. This has weeded out duplication of PAN (Permanent ID for filing tax returns) and blocked channels of corruption. It gets that much tougher to hoard black money these days. The essential streamlining of India’s financial sector and tax revenue system has been pending for decades without implementation.
  • GST was similarly demonized. It was one sweeping economic reform, again long overdue. As someone who has crossed the Tamil Nadu-Andhra border dozen times or more all my life, i bear witness to how the long queues of trucks and other heavy vehicles since ceased to be a common sight at state borders with GST implementation. Precious fuel and man hours saved. Now we have seamless transport within India. This is such a big, big move. Opposition can be constructively critical but not to the extent of damaging. GST is one of the best things to happen to Indian economy. Once the teething problems subside, it will go a long way in simplifying the entire revenue structure for India.
  • IT exemption limits have been raised. May not be sufficient or to desired level but puts more money into common man’s pockets. Especially the lower middle class.
  • Health insurance for manual labourers. Health cover upto 5 lac rupees for manual labourers
  • Life insurance cover for manual labourers
  • Rural electrification 100% almost. Covered all villages left out of the loop and far flung areas. Maximum coverage of not only electricity but also broadband
  • Metro rail (underground and surface) in all metros and tier 2 cities
  • Cheapest and fastest Mobile network and broadband connecting India.
  • Highways and secondary roads and rural roads
  • Bringing Sanitation to rural India. It is a big, big feat. Awareness creation and bringing it to the poorest of the country. Free of cost. Free toilets for rural homes.
  • Swachch Bharat. I am seeing remarkable cleaning of our roads and airports and railway stations in midnight hours. India is home to 1.3 billion. It is not easy to run things. But things are definitely improving.
  • India now belongs in the elusive ‘Elite Space Club‘ and under Modi we are well defended with anti-satellite missile strike capability which in indigenous.
  • As someone rooting for fitness, Modi’s Yoga impresses me as well. Yoga is soft power. Modi just reclaimed it for India smartly and branded it Indian bringing in global awareness.
  • A global leader in Shri Narendra Modi ji who is head and shoulders above the rest. His Statesmanship is phenomenal. He is an equal with Trump or Putin. Never on the weaker side. You cannot bargain with Modi. Modi dictates terms. You respect Modi and India and take respect from Modi and India.
  • Modi is friends with Saudi and UAE and Qatar all at the same time as he is friendly with Israel. Excellent Diplomatic skills. Conferred with highest honours by Saudi and UAE, To that extent, India’s bargaining power improves.
  • Dealing with China: Firm and decisive. China backed out of Doklam, Bhutan territory as India stared down at China. Something only India can do with China after the US. India threatened with boycotting Chinese products. China responded with voting against Masood Azhar in India’s favour, breaking out of the Pakistani jinx. Now Azhar is a designated global terrorist.
  • Kashmir & Pakistan: Modi will hopefully wring out the rest of Kashmir from Pakistan forever now and consolidate Kashmir with India for good. Next wrong move by Pakistan, they will not get up for a long time … or will be done once and for all. Kashmir will be on equal footing with rest of India very soon with article 370 cancelled. Long overdue. Only Modi can do this.
  • Deep sense of security in Indian masses like never before. We go to sleep in the confidence reposed in our leader that we are in good hands. Stocks did not nosedive overnight on Balakot. Responsible but firm and no-nonsense statesmanship
  • Blocking foreign funds/NGOs to Christian missionaries from America and Europe who were on relentless conversion spree of Hindus. Re-conversion to Mother religion is starting to happen. Will happen. Trend will be reversed hopefully.
  • ZERO TOLERANCE TOWARDS TERRORISM. Kicked out Zakir Naik. Hard and unapologetic about terrorists. National security concerns are top priority with NO COMPROMISE.
  • Muslim women voted for BJP because he abolished the Triple Talaq in India. Even some muslim fathers with daughters were touched by the move. Average muslim especially poor muslim extremely impressed with demonetization unlike what the media projected. Modi in fact, cut the Haj subsidy. I have christian friends too who did not utter a single word against demonetization. One worked for a bank and had to work day and night for 45 to 60 days without OT pay on account of demonetization. Contrary to what media reported, masses in India happily and willingly obliged. This i have posted earlier in my blog.
  • Sushma Swaraj, Manoj Parikkar (who is no more  unfortunately), Smriti Irani – won hearts. Arun Jaitley needs to be kicked out of BJP. Will Modi take note.
  • India’s rank and prestige rose at global level. Economically, Militarily, Socially the nation is on the move and for the better. Rupee is gaining and stock markets are on rebound.
  • Better deals for India for oil and gas. India negotiates better now under Modi.
  • Turnaround in North East India. This often neglected part of India started identifying more with rest of India thanks to Modi’s frequent visits there. Great projects rolled out in north east improving local economy. Consolidation of the 7-Sister states with India has never happened before Modi.
  • Mamta Banerjee with anti-national and pro-terrorist stand dug her own grave.
  • Indian masses view Congress as anti-national and desh drohi party who will finish off Hindus.
  • Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will NEVER win hearts or be trusted. They are viewed as traitors and thieves. They are most corrupt. The Vadras need a serious investigation.
  • Modi government’s non corruption streak. So far the best. Must be maintained at all costs.
  • Modi’s personal character: flawless personal life of Modi is a big influence in the Indian voter’s mind. No material attachment. Selfless service to the nation. DYNAMIC! ASTUTE! SHARP! INTELLIGENT! CUNNING! CHANKYA REBORN IN SHORT! Born for serving Mother India. Born to serve Hindu Dharma. No blood relatives benefited from Modi’s rise. His brothers and sisters are shopkeepers and lower middle class barely making sustenance. No kith or kin in the limelight. Modi uses merely 2 or 3 rooms in his official residence, keeping the rest locked. His mother lives in village and walks everywhere. Modi fasts for Navarathri etc on liquid food. His daily food rations are poha, kichdi nothing more. He works 20 hours a day. Does Yoga and meditation. Has not taken a single day’s leave in his political work life/official capacity. Owns/possesses very little-least valued assets that are absolute necessity only. Extremely rare to come through such a human being especially wielding this kind of power. Shri Narendra Modiji is one in trillion. A star born with a purpose. The blessed son of Mother India who was sent to us with a divine purpose. Whether India or world will see anyone like him in future is doubtful… Rarest of rare breed.
  • Yogi Adithyanath: Painted as religious fanatic. In truth, great administrator that even the UPs muslims had to concede. Good management skills. Great handling of the Kumbh and cleaning up of the Ganga river and dirtiest holy cities of ours that were left untouched by the Congress govt that held sway over the region for close to 60 years. Plunge in crime rate. Nothing,  nothing solid and constructive was done by Congress in Amethi, the consistent and consecutive Congress Prime ministers’ constituency.
  • Modi’s widely criticized foreign trips did India big favours. He signed priceless deals in every foreign mission. Dr Manmohan Singh, our ex PM, expended multiple times on foreign trips as Modi but that was never highlighted by the media.
  • Lies and more lies fed by Media : Lies spread by media houses run/managed by those like Rajdeep Sardesai, Pranoy Roy, Karan Thapar etc., did not work. Indian voter is no fool. Crypto christians and terror apologists must know this now. Twitter is not the arena to fight or win.
  • Award Wapsi backfires. You do not return titles because you do not like or cannot respect the PM of this country who won the people’s mandate lawfully. The leftists have lost face now.
  • Dynasty politics days are over.
  • Rahul Gandhi as PM of India is a disaster no Indian wants the nation to suffer.
  • Rahul Gandhi promised free dole out of 72,000/- rupees per annum to each BPL family, that is Rs. 6,000/- credited into each poor family’s account without work/job on Congress party’s election to power. Tax paying Indians know how this can kill India. Even my illiterate maid knows that her son and her husband would in that case turn out into irredeemable alcoholics. Italian Mafia failed miserably.
  • Rahul Gandhi offered to write off all rural loans – another damaging political gamble. Once more intelligent Indians rejected this poison sop.
  • The opposition Congress did not belittle Modi or BJP in Balakot. The Congress belittled India and our very Armed forces. Unpardonable offence. How can we trust the nation in Congress hands again.
  • The Mahaghatbandhan were talking like ‘India ko tukde tukde karen’ and you want to win Indian elections riding high on this blood curdling slogan. What an underestimation of Indian citizens.
  • No big feat. India merely put full faith and trust in the favourite son of Bharat Matha Narendra Modi that is it. We DO NOT TRUST Gandhis or Congress any longer. Neither is media the voice of the public. Media in India is christian missionary mouthpiece or terror mouthpiece. NO HINDU REPRESENTATION. Imagine not having a single loyal media house. ‘Republic’ owned wholly by Indians is the only nationalist tv news channel in India today. I stopped reading the Hindu, the Times of India etc., long long back. After cutting foreign funds to christian missionaries, Modi should look into foreign funding and ownership of Indian media.
  • Secularism does not translate to Majority bashing. Minority status does not automatically confer upon the muslims and christians of India the right to get away with their misdoings.

We prayed in 39 temples in Kumbakonam-Mayavaram Yatra of ours for Shri Narendra Modi and BJP/NDA victory exactly on Election date and around it. We asked for archana in our PMs name but were politely refused. Archakas understood and explained to us that they already did that ‘aathamaartham’ every single day . They said, they did not want to politicize temples and create unnecessary issues. We respected that. In my personal opinion, BJP has still penetrated deep into the heart of Tamil Nadu. Their vote bank is steadily building up. One day, they will conquer Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
